Laser Safety Goggles


SKY laser safety goggles are made of high quality polycarbonate with high class on laser pretection for huam eyes. We have several professional series safety goggles for typical wavelength and compatible with several frame styles. Customer can match the right series goggles according to their purpose and also can choose the frame style they like.
All SKY laser safety goggles approved by  Stand: EN2072009+AC:2011 (Europe)  and Stand: ANSI Z136.1 (USA).
The laser safety goggles can be used on laser manufacturing, laser collimation calibration project, laser cosmetology, medical treatment etc.

Why we need wear laser safety goggles?
Eyes are very important sense organ for human but they are weak. They can be injured by mang kinds of lights in daily life.
Laser light wavelength less than 400nm can hurt the cornea;
Laser wavelength between 400nm-1400nm can get through the eyes lens and hurt the retina, it is very dangerous;
Laser wavelenth higher than 1400nm is relatively safe, but it still hurt eyes if exposed to high power laser enviroment.

Because of evolution, now human eyes lost the sense for violet and infrared laser light and the laser light wavelength higher than 940nm is totally invisible. Invisible light still can injire our eyes. The 400nm-1400nm laser light and go through human eyes and injire retina easily.
For example, Most of high power laser cutting machine use 1064nm-1100nm invisible laser which cause more serious injire than visible laser light. We must protect our eyes when we operating it.
What is "Optical Density (OD)" and "Visible Light Transmittance (VLT)" ?
Usually we will see an OD number and VLT number on laser safety goggles or specification.
OD is short for Optical Density, usually we have class 1 to class 10 for OD class. A higher OD class means the glasses have a higher efficiency to adsorb typical laser light, we can choose the OD class according to your laser power.  
VLT is short for Visible Light Transmittance. A higher VLT means we can see more visible light, if the VLT is lower than 20%, we should use the laser goggles in a bright enviroment. The VLT affact by OD class and also affact by typical laser wavelength.
How to choose laser safety goggles?
There are many people confused when you choose the laser safety goggles. They only know the laser color or wavelength for their laser pointers or machine. But there are many kinds of safety goggles in the market.
We need to consider about the working enviroment and  the laser specification. For example, if the using enviroment is dark, we need to choose a goggles with higher VLT. Or if the laser power is very high, according to your purpose, we can choose the right OD for goggles.
